Think of this video as revision from that book. For this video, we used the book as a base for the most important words to start people learning French. Expo is a very respected book, so we trusted their phrases – remember, these are phrases which people have proved to have different opinions as to how they should be said – just read the comments!

They don’t have it wrong. You can leave it out but you have then to pronounce ‘va’.

@crystalceline: I have downloaded the basic french course from speedlearninglanguages com yesterday and have listened to the audio course for about 5-6 hours. I can really recommend it. Thank you for the tip.

yea comment is like saying commo but i guess reading how to pronounce something can still sound wrong. like the ending ‘o’ isnt ‘ow’ its ‘o’..pr something like that lol it doesnt make sense just reading it

A : Learn to speak French : Meeting and Greeting by Perrilala, July 3, 2009

comment ca va is the informal way of sayng how are you and ca va is a shorter way of saying the same thing but it can also mean ‘well’ like im well (je ca va). at least i think so..im studying for a test tomorrow so nervous!

A : Learn to speak French : Meeting and Greeting by mooglelegend, July 3, 2009

i thought saying ” comment ca va ” means how is it going and just ca va is how are you ? Am i right or just talking bullshit lol ?

A : Learn to speak French : Meeting and Greeting by Doum92, July 3, 2009

U have to say ”Comment”

A : Learn to speak French : Meeting and Greeting by xxstebxx, July 3, 2009

Seems to be different on YOUTUBE. Some videos say, comment, some say commo

A : Learn to speak French : Meeting and Greeting by itolduwnicame08, July 3, 2009

no, it doesn’t. comment=comment; if you would like a guide to pronunication in English, it would be something like ‘comma(n)t.’ it’s a nasal and thus doesn’t exist in english, but pronouncing the ‘ent’ as ‘o’ doesn’t work at all.

A : Learn to speak French : Meeting and Greeting by xxstebxx, July 3, 2009
