I speak only English, what is my life going to be in France? Would people be tolerant towards me? Generally my questions is what is the French people’s tolerance towards foreigners?
Also I’m interested to know what percentage of young french people (25y. under) know English?

I thought I’d answer since I was in Paris two weeks ago. They don’t like when you don’t at least try to speak in French to them. In some cases they’ll even ignore you. Get a phrase book, people are friendly there and willing to help you, but only when you try and speak in French.
EDIT: It seemed like the young people under 30 were more inclined to speak in English. I think English is definitely studied in schools now and you can find people your age that can speak in English.

Then I think if you have to go to France you should speak French because most of french hate to learn languages (of course peoples under 30yrs old may speak it) …

I would say if you are in a touristy kind of place they will know a lot of english, but do try and learn a few phases even if you have to carry a pocket book. I would also like to mention that if you ever go to the Gaspé peninsula in Quebec the part between Maine and the St Lawrence River, if you don’t speak absolute perfect french they will ignore you because many of the sovereigntists live in that area.

It will help a lot if you can learn a few simple words and sentences. If you show people that at least you’re trying they’ll be more than willing to help you. Just try to stay away from Paris, they’re just rude to everybody there in general, french speaking or not.
Most young people speak english so that shouldn’t be a problem, we all have to learn it in school.
